Why is it that those diets, goals, and dreams sometimes have a hard time sticking or making their way into reality?
Often, the dreams don't align with who you are and simply aren't the right choice for you and the life that you are living at this moment. But, the more time you spend tending to yourself and your needs, the more you become attuned to what works and what will be the right fit for your life. The more you know what works and what doesn't the less time you spend going after what simply doesn't jive with where you are at on your journey. This is one of the many reasons why self-care is such an important pillar of the Nourish 360 philosophy.
It is simple enough to follow a meal plan, lifestyle philosophy, or wellness idea mapped out by someone other than yourself. You receive the outside information, you listen, and then you do. Until you realize that you haven't put it through your own filter, you actually really like carbs, and you aren't all that into rigid lifestyles or ways of eating. If you first don't have a good handle on your intuition and what works for you, the diet, the foods, and the approach will probably not be a fit with your unique body, life, and joy.
There are so many approaches to wellbeing. But first, take the time to know your constantly evolving self and care for that person. It makes everything that follows so much easier. Make a practice of slowing down and spending time with you. Don't make excuses! You are that important. And giving to yourself allows you to give your unique talents back to the world tenfold. Come to not only practice self-care but to know yourself well. Strengthen your intuition so you can filter out what you intuitively know does not serve yourself to thrive and let in what will support you to evolve into your best you.
Simply put, take time to do what you truly and utterly enjoy. To listen, to know yourself, and to follow your joy. It can be as easy as relaxing in the sunshine or as grand as saying yes to that around the world vacation.
Some excellent ideas that strengthen your intuition include:
- Take a bath // give yourself a facial
- Create time to spend with people who bring out the best in you
- Cook or eat a healthy meal
- Express your creative side: draw, paint, bake, write
- Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and do nothing else
- Take a yoga class or practice at home
- Start the day writing a few sentences in your journal
- Write a list of everything you love to do or what brings you joy and stick it on the fridge
- Create time for quiet and stillness
