Health, Revisited.

Oh, the health world.

With so many contradictions, approaches, and leaders, how is anyone suppose to know what to do or where to turn in order to be healthy? In order to lose weight and feel not just ok, but fantastic? In order to feel comfortable in your skin? And here's the secret that I almost never hear anyone preach:

YOU know. You know better than the doctors, than the glowing gal on Instagram, than your cousin’s friend that is vegan and seemingly has it all figured out. 

You know what works best for you. If only you would listen. There is a reason why there are a thousand of diets out there. Why there are hundreds of diet books. Not one works for everyone. Not one works for each person’s body and each individual’s unique lifestyle.

But you. You know. And the more you pay attention to what supports you in feeling great and what leaves you feeling icky and crazy, the more you learn and the more information you have to support your body. 

I want to tell you this because I was there once. I lived in a body I hated, felt awful, and was 80 pounds heavier than I am today. Yes, 80 pounds. I thought everyone else knew something I didn’t. So I tried to be a vegan. I listened to the books. I went to so. many. doctors. I listened to everyone except myself. And it got me flat out nowhere. 

Of course, information and support is helpful, but it will not do you any help if you don’t put all of that information and inspiration through your own filter. If you don’t take the time to honor and reflect on what is actually going to work for you.

Because you know. You know your lifestyle, you know what works in your life, and what ain't going to cut it. Diets don’t work because they suck. Fads don’t last because they don’t take into account what you actually need to enjoy and live your life with a certain amount of ease and just enough push. And you’ve heard it before, but I’ll say it again: There is no magic pill.

Here's my jam. I hope you aren’t struggling in your body right right now. I hope you feel great. But if you feel less than, take some time to get to know you. Take some time to reflect on what shifts you need to make to support your unique self in order to thrive.
